Volkswagen T25 / T3 Autohomes Kameo Mark 1 Camper Model History
Circa 1983 Autohomes introduced the T25 / T3 Volkswagen Autohomes Kameo Mark 1. This was a 2 berth camper with a hightop roof with extra storage compartments in the roof. The interior had cupboards along the side behind the drivers seat and the rear seat converted into a 3/4 width double bed. At the same time Autohomes introduced another similar model called the Karisma. The Karisma had a much higher specification than the Kameo. The standard engine option was the 2000cc CU air cooled engine with an extra cost option of a water cooled diesel engine. A) Adjustable drivers cab seat. B) Adjustable swivelling passenger cab seat.
C) Electrolux RM 122 two way (gas / 12 volt operated) refrigerator (with electronic ignition system) below. Fridge has internal ice cube tray.
Integral stainless steel sink and Leisure Princess cooker unit with grill. The whole covered with a heat resistant work top.
Extensive storage in wardrobe, cupboards, lockers and drawers including a unit to take the Thetford Porta Potti 230 flushing toilet that was included as standard on the Karisma model. Furniture is finished in a very attractive wipe clean wood grained laminate with heat resistant work tops that fold away to reveal the cooker, sink, drainer cutlery storage and vanity unit complete with mirror.
In all the Autohomes Kameo Mark 1 can seat up to 5 people in forward facing seats utilising the forward facing bench seat and the two cab seats. When parked the front passenger seat can be turned round so the cab becomes part of the lounging area. Side storage unit with cupboard underneath that can hold the Thetford 230 Porta Potti and two Camping Gas 907 gas cylinders.
Rear seat converts to a large double bed (185.5 cm x 122 cm). New and easy method for converting from seat to bed.
Free standing removable table can also be used outside for meals (stowed behind rear seat and acts as luggage cover when not in use).
Rear wardrobe and rear storage unit over engine bay lifts out for easy engine servicing.
Rear seat can be folded down and with the cushions and rear drawer unit removed the Kameo Mark 1 is transformed into a roomy estate car with forward facing seating for three.

Other features include: Full carpeting including cab area. Caravan body sides are insulated up to window level. Built in 54.5 litre (12 gallon) freshwater tank with external lockable filler cap. Electric submersible water pump with foot operated isolating switch. Cupboard storage for two Camping Gas 907 cylinders. Opening sliding window on offside above cooker / sink. Fluorescent lighting above kitchen. Spot light next to rear roof locker (12 volt, 10 Watt). Courtesy lights. All the windows are fully curtained with velcro strips at bottom for added privacy. Front roof lockers incorporating pull out cocktail cabinet and crockery storage cabinet.

5) Options available at extra cost included: Thetford Porta Potti 230 flushing toilet. Front seat covers to match rear seat upholstery. Childs cab bunk.
Option pack includes all of the following: Propex thermostatically controlled blown air heating system. Second battery. Zig CF6 / CF8 Control panel incorporating battery charger, fuses and battery condition indicator.
